In uncertain days, with the world teetering on the edge of madness, HaChavayot cut two of their most contentious sides yet: “Sutul” (“a light on all that is dark”), a woozy plunge into drug-fuelled delirium, and “Lo Yachol Lir’ot” (from the French “Je Ne Vois Rien”), one long middle finger at the establishment.
Both tracks crackle with energy: Uzi Navon’s insolent lyrics (he also mans the Hammond organ and tambourine), the hot groove of Mike Solomon (drums and cymbals) and Netanel Samantov (bass guitar), and — of course — Sasson Serussi’s ear-splitting fuzz guitar slicing through it all..
