You get the feeling Reut Doron has been waiting in the wings her entire life — 25 years old, a lifer in art and music, currently lending her voice to other people's spotlights as a backing vocalist for the likes of Alma Gov, Itamar Sadot and Mika Tal. Watch her on stage, though, and it's obvious - this is a diva-in-waiting doing her apprenticeship in plain sight. Her Ghostown releases are where the disguise finally slips. It's a gloriously restless cross-breed — the brainy, liquid jazz of Hiatus Kaiyote and Moonchild colliding with the sweat and strobe of an early-'90s rave — assembled by a cast of sharp young hands: Yungi, Itamar Sadot, Matan Lior and Daniel Yitzhaki. The production is slick, modern, expensively 'made' — and yet it never once loses the tremble of something intimate and true.
